Business Showcase Reports Success
About 3,000 people came through the business showcase Feb. 18 sponsored by the Aptos and Capitola-Soquel Chambers of Commerce, and participants reported that they were pleased with the level of interest, said Karen Hibble of the Aptos Chamber.

The event at the Capitola Mall featured 143 exhibitors ranging from law enforcement agencies and nonprofits to banks, health care providers and car dealers. Restaurants in the food pavilion and throughout the event gave out samples of salads, soups, sandwiches, desserts and more, eventually running out of food because of the response, Hibble reported.

She heard positive feedback both during and after the event from exhibitors who felt they made strong contacts.

"We talked to a number of people who have referrals from it and who did a lot of networking," concurred Toni Castro of the Capitola-Soquel Chamber.

Participant booths stretched across every arm of the mall, which was decorated with a spring theme.

"We have to thank Woodworm Party Store and Alexis Party rentals for transforming the mall into a showcase," she said.

Visitors began to arrive as much as an hour before the 4 p.m. start and attendance remained strong throughout the evening.

"We were overall very, very pleased and hope the economy continues to pick up for our local businesses," said Hibble.
